Nissan Maxima Manual Transmission Problems
- If you are experiencing difficulty shifting gears for your Maxima, there could be a significant problem with the transaxle itself. Alternatively, other problems may include a faulty clutch disc, pressure plate, release lever or a broken shift lever assembly.
- If the Maxima has an elevated noise level in one specific gear, then there may be damaged synchronizers or a worn out individual output gear or bushing. Additionally, the constant mesh gears may also have damage.
- If the Maxima has unusually loud noise in all gears, then there is either a lubricant leak or deterioration of the bearings, which could result from the leak itself. The Maxima will also experience noise in all gears if the input or output gear shafts are worn out.
