How to Replace a 1988 Mustang Sway Bar Bushing
- 1). Drive the Mustang's front wheels onto the two ramps. Shift the Mustang into "Park." Turn off the engine and set the parking brake.
- 2). Shove the wheel chocks against the front and rear of the left rear tire to hold the Mustang in place.
- 3). Climb under the Mustang's front end with your socket set. Remove the sway bar bushing bracket retaining bolts from the subframe with your socket set.
- 4). Pull the old bushing out of the Mustang's sway bar bracket by hand. Slide the new bushing into place.
- 5). Bolt the bracket, with new bushing inside it, back onto the Mustang's subframe with your socket set.
- 6). Climb out from under the Mustang with your socket set and the old bushing. Discard the old bushing.
- 7). Move the wheel chocks away from the Mustang's tire. Back the Mustang off the ramps.
