How to Replace the Fuel Filter in a Ford
- 1). Locate the fuse panel under the hood and remove the fuse responsible for the fuel pump. Start the vehicle and allow it to run until the engine stalls out.
- 2). Locate the fuel pump under the vehicle. The fuel filter is generally located on the passenger side. Remove both fuel lines connected to the fuel filter.
- 3). Use a crescent wrench to remove the old fuel filter from the mount and set it aside.
- 4). Install the new fuel filter using the crescent wrench, ensuring the arrow on the new filter points toward the engine.
- 5). Attach the input/output fuel lines to the new fuel filter.
- 6). Reinstall the fuel pump fuse into the fuse panel and close the vehicle's hood.
- 7). Start your engine to make sure the new fuel filter is working correctly.
