How to Keep a Toddler Out of a Folding Door
- 1). Select a bi-fold door child safety lock. The most effective models are those which are made from clear, rigid plastic, and are sold with an adjustable spacer. They are designed to slide over the top of the door along the seam between the two folding panels.
- 2). Adjust the width of your lock, using the provided spacer. Leave a small amount of space between the sides of the lock and the sides of the door, allowing the lock to slide back and forth freely across the top of the door.
- 3). With the door in the open position, hook the child lock into place over one of the panels. Press down firmly against the top of the lock to secure it in place.
- 4). Close the folding door.
- 5). Slide the child lock in between the two folding panels. The rigid plastic will prevent the panels from separating, keeping the door closed.
- 6). Slide the child lock back to the side to disengage the lock.
