How to Install an HID Ballast
- 1). Find a flat, level parking spot with enough natural light to work by. Turn off the engine and let the auto cool. This could take as long as 30 minutes depending upon how long the engine had been running. When cool, pop the hood.
- 2). Go to the rear of the headlight that is not working properly and locate a small box attached to the headlight assembly. It will have a wire harness plugged in one end and a connection wire in the other end connecting it to the headlight itself.
- 3). Disconnect the wiring harness and the connecting wire from the old ballast. Then remove the ballast. If the HID lights came with the auto then the ballast may be attached by a clip or small screw. If the HID headlights are after market then it may just be held there by some double sided tape.
- 4). Install a new ballast in the same manner as the old. Reconnect the wiring harness and connecting wire. Close hood.
