How to Troubleshoot a Tire Changer
- 1). Try to operate the machine as you normally would by pressing the function pedal at the base. Notice what happens, if anything. Pay attention to clunking sounds or rotation of the shaft. See if it turns all the way around as it should. Listen for escaping air from inside the machine.
- 2). Remove the front and rear cover plate by removing the four bolts on each cover with the socket set. How your tire machine functions will now be visible.
- 3). Shine your flashlight into the machine and press the pedal again. Now you will be able to see what is happening and notice why the machine is not working properly. Check the welds and for any parts that might have fallen into the machine. Many times it is a simple fix when you find that a spacer plate from the machine has fallen into a place that stops the full turn of the shaft. Now you can also look for air leaks if you have any.
- 4). Note what you find on the paper so that you know any parts you need to replace.
