How to Adjust the Height of Casters
- 1). Jack up the car near the wheel and casters that you will be working on.
- 2). Remove the upper control arms on both sides of the caster.
- 3). Remove the knockout plugs in the frame brackets. The control arms should now be movable.
- 4). Insert the necessary number of caster shims under the outer end of the control arm to balance the car. There should be no forward (positive) or backward (negative) slant, which could throw off steering accuracy.
- 5). Secure the caster shims in place. Insert a bolt through the holes of the caster shims and the control arm. Screw a nut on the back end of each bolt.
- 6). Reattach the control arm and knockout plugs. Restore each nut and bolt to its original location.
