    • 1). Place a set of wheel chocks in front of the front wheels on the Jetta. Move to the inside of the car and remove the rear seat by lifting it out. This will reveal th strut mounts. Pry off the cap from the strut mount, using a screwdriver. Remove the top nut, washer and rubber bushings using a wrench. Remove the second nut with the wrench.

    • 2). Raise the Jetta on one side of the rear end, using the jack. Place a jack stand under the car near the jacking point and raise it to the frame. Do not place the jack stand under the axle. Remove the bolts from the strut at the axle, using a socket and ratchet.

    • 3). Pull the strut from under the Jetta. Place the new strut under the car and install the bolts. Tighten the bolts with the socket and ratchet. Be sure that you have the top of the strut through the upper hole. Remove the jack stand from under the Jetta. Lower the car to the ground.

    • 4). Move back inside the car and install the nut to the strut. Tighten the nut with the wrench. Install the rubber bushings, washer and top nut. Tighten the top nut with the wrench. Repeat the procedure on the other rear strut.
