    Types

    • The 1955 Chevrolet lineup featured three models, including the Bel Air, the 150 and the 210. All three models were available in 2-door and 4-door sedan formats, and also were offered as station wagons. Altogether, the 1955 Chevrolets were offered in 14 different colors.

    Advancements

    • The 1955 Chevrolet was designed by Edward Nicholas Cole, chief engineer of the Chevrolet Company at the time. A major advancement of the 1955 Chevrolet was its 265 cubic inch V-8 engine, which was featured for the first time.

    Race Time

    • The 1955 Chevrolet had the distinct honor of being used as the pace car for the 1955 Indianapolis 500, which took place on May 30. The car was driven during the race by Thomas H. Keating, the sales manager of the Chevrolet Company.
