The Best Way to Clean Travertine
- 1). Wipe the travertine with a clean, soft cloth or broom to remove surface dirt and debris.
- 2). Apply a layer of the stone cleaner to the travertine. Note that acidic cleaners should be avoided with travertine, as this can result in etching marks on the stone.
- 3). Let the stone cleaner sit on the travertine for approximately 20 minutes. Do not let it dry. If it begins to dry, move on to the next step.
- 4). Dampen a stiff-bristled brush and gently scrub the cleaner into the stone. Use a grout brush to clean the grout between travertine tiles.
- 5). Dip a soft cloth or mop into clean water and clean the stone cleaner off the stone. Follow with a clean, damp cloth or mop until the stone cleaner is removed from the travertine.
- 6). Dry the stone with a cotton or microfiber mop or cloth.
