How to Mount Grave Monuments
- 1). Clear the grave of any soil or leaves where you want to place the monument using the brush and the soapy water. Dry the spot with a dry cloth. If the grave does not have any concrete parts to which you can affix the monument, make a foundation.
- 2). Dig a 10-by-10-inch hole 1 foot deep at the location where you want to mount the monument. Mix the concrete mixture with water in the concrete mixer following the manufacturer's instructions. Fill the concrete mix into the 1-foot-deep hole. Leave the concrete foundation to dry for one day.
- 3). Apply stone glue, such as Gem-Tac glue or Jolly Natural Stone glue (see Resources), to the base of the monument and to the spot where you want to stand the monument. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on how much glue to apply. The amount of glue you will need to use may depend on the weight of the monument you would like to raise.
- 4). Stand the monument in place. If the monument is heavy, ask a friend to help you lift it and transport it. Wipe off any excess glue that came out from under the monument.
- 5). Wait until the glue dries. Check on the glue's label how much time it requires to dry. Guard the monument until it stands firm on its own because if it is not adequately set it could fall on a passerby.
