How to Clean the Carpet Next to the Walls or Baseboard

    • 1). Sweep along the carpet and baseboard with a stiff-bristle brush. This loosens and lifts all the dirt, making it easier to vacuum up.

    • 2). Attach the crevice tool to your vacuum cleaner. The crevice tool is long and narrow. It flattens as it travels to the tip. Make sure your vacuum cleaner bag isn't full so the vacuum has a good suction. Place the tip of the crevice tool diagonally against the baseboard and carpet. Turn on the vacuum and guide it along the wall. You will hear dirt and sand being sucked up into the hose.

    • 3). Squirt some foaming carpet spot cleaner along the carpet and baseboard if a stubborn dirt line remains after vacuuming. Follow the directions on the foam cleaner for letting the foam set. Using paper towels, blot up the excess foam and dirt.

    • 4). Scrub with a regular household sponge if the paper towel blotting didn't do the job adequately.
