How to Remove the Tensioner Assembly From a 1996 Saturn SL1
- 1). Pull the hood release on the inside of the vehicle.
- 2). Open the hood, release the hood prop from the retaining clip and place it in the hood prop hole on the inside of the hood.
- 3). Place a 9/16-inch wrench on the tensioner pulley retaining bolt. The pulley is located on the passenger side of the engine, just below the alternator. Turn the bolt counterclockwise and remove it and the pulley.
- 4). Remove the two retaining bolts holding the tensioner bracket in place with a socket wrench and remove the bracket from the engine compartment.
