How to Repair Bullnose Bricks

    • 1). Locate the damaged brick and locate any mortar holding the brick in place. Place a chisel on either edge of the brick where the mortar is attaching it to the other bricks. Hammer down on the chisel to loosen the mortar. Move the chisel around the brick to loosen all of the mortar.

    • 2). Hammer down firmly in the center of the brick multiple times until it loosens and falls from its location. Wipe up any dust and other leftover debris with a small concrete broom, and wipe the area clean with a damp rag.

    • 3). Pour a small bag of mortar into a mixing tub and add in water. Stir the two together until they achieve a consistency of peanut butter. Move the mortar back and forth in the tub with a trowel until there is no dust remaining. Add more water, if necessary, to achieve the consistency.

    • 4). Spread out a thin 1/8-inch layer of mortar over the edge of the bricks that are already installed. Apply it with the trowel and set the new bullnose brick against the mortar you applied. Hold it in place for a few minutes by pressing your hands up firmly against the brick so it can adhere to the mortar.

    • 5). Inspect the brick to verify that it is secure in the spot. Repeat the process for any other bricks that need to be replaced.
