Does It Feel Good?

The best way of forgetting how you think you feel is to concentrate on what you know you know.
- Mary Stewart So you come to a big turning point in life where you decide to enact massive change.
You leap from total despair into the fire of inspirational dissatisfaction to be reinvented into a better you.
It's hard to believe that only such a short time ago your life seemed so dead ended.
No excitement.
No variety leading to growth.
Yet in an in an instance the wind picked up and you suddenly found you're sailing along.
It feels good! You feel this great sense of pride.
You smile more.
Your friends and family take notice.
What's gotten into you they wonder.
They want more of the new you and you're only happy to oblige.
All of this new found fuel only serves to egg you on even further.
You tighten and tweak even more to increase this feeling of well being.
Finally you have a sense of balance.
You vow to never fall out of whack again! This great feeling lasts for quite some time until suddenly you awaken one day to find it gone.
The results all still seem to be there.
Friends and family are still in admiration.
Love and connection box is clearly checked off.
Your balance between work and play is still just fine.
Check mark for variety.
You're even still evolving into a better person and changing other people's lives.
No issues with growth and contribution! So what's missing.
That feeling of comfort? Or was it security? How about pride? Well whatever it is it's gone! Now what? Well obviously you have to go and get it back.
You must have lost it somewhere along the way.
Maybe it's time for another wholesale change? But wait before you go done that path you wonder whether or not you really want to go through all of that again.
It was so hard to burn the old you to ashes and reemerge so why do it again? Maybe the answer is simpler now that you're wiser.
So let's take an inventory.
The first time you made a major shift it was a big awakening.
A moment of clarity that may even have been a once in a lifetime event.
Why should you assume that you need that type of a moment just because your not feeling that hype you felt closest to the fire.
After all, now that you've been in the right direction for a while, haven't you gotten better results.
Are you not taking a full inventory of all the things that went well? You see, if we're paying attention to life's lessons, we're actually learning about certain truths.
A truth is a universal principle that is immutable and consistent.
The only variable is whether or not we find it and accept it.
Huh, you cry? Well let's simplify.
We all have break through moments when we just finally "get it.
" Those moments when we are finally accepted into a higher level of awareness because we kept learning.
That epiphany moment brings an adrenaline rush that gives us a natural high that we all wish would last forever...
but it doesn't.
So the caution here is that you shouldn't throw out all those truths you've discovered along the way because you're not "feeling it" anymore.
You should use them as anchor points to return to every time you fall back off track...
because you will always be tripping.
However, don't ever despair about the loss of the "feeling" because it's always waiting for you at the next level.
