How Do I Change 1997 Toyota Ignition Wires?
- 1). Remove the new wires from the box. Lay them out on the fender. Match each wire up with the old wire on the vehicle for length. Lay the wires out in the order that you will be installing them, starting with the number 1 cylinder.
- 2). Pull the wire off the spark plug for the number 1 cylinder. If you cannot pull it off by hand, use the insulated pliers. Follow the wire to the distributor cap. Pull the wire off the distributor cap.
- 3). Push the end of the new wire firmly onto the distributor cap tower. Route the wire in the same fashion that the old wire was routed to the spark plug. Push the wire onto the spark plug until you feel or hear it snap into place. Discard the old wire.
- 4). Pull the wire off the next cylinder and follow it to the distributor cap. Pull it off the distributor cap. Push the end of the new wire firmly onto the distributor cap tower, then route the wire over to the cylinder. Snap the wire onto the spark plug. Discard the old wire. Repeat for the last two wires.
