How to Remove a Silverado Dashboard
- 1). Turn off the engine of the Silverado and open the hood to access the battery. Remove the negative terminal from the battery with a socket wrench.
- 2). Remove the kick panels on both sides of the vehicle by removing the four screws securing each panel with a Phillips screwdriver and pulling the panel out of the Silverado.
- 3). Remove the glove compartment by opening it and removing the two screws securing it to the Silverado. Pull it out of the vehicle.
- 4). Remove the instrument panel dash trim screws. There are two above the instrument panel and two below. Pull out the dash trim.
- 5). Remove the two screws securing the radio and the two screws securing the HVAC unit. Pull the devices out of the center console and disconnect their electrical-plug connectors. Remove them from the vehicle.
- 6). Remove the four securing screws from the instrument panel. Pull it out with a slotted screwdriver and disconnect the electrical-plug connector. Remove it from the vehicle.
- 7). Uninstall the four screws at the corners of the center console faceplate. Remove it from the Silverado.
- 8). Insert the slotted screwdriver in between the windshield and the upper dash trim. Pry it upward and remove it. Disconnect any remaining electrical-plug connectors.
