How to Replace the Left Turn Signal Bulb on a 1997 Grand Cherokee
- 1). Lift and support the hood of your Grand Cherokee to clear it from the top of the headlight bezel. Remove the screws from the top and around the perimeter of the headlight bezel with a Phillips head screwdriver.
- 2). Pull the bezel away from the headlight and turn signal assembly. Set it to the side with all of its screws.
- 3). Remove the Phillips head screw on the top left corner of the turn signal assembly with the screwdriver. Remove the second screw that secures the assembly in place on the right next to the lower corner of the grille with the Phillips head screwdriver as well.
- 4). Pull the turn signal assembly away from the Grand Cherokee no more than 8 inches. Rotate the turn signal socket counterclockwise a quarter turn to unlock it from the rear of the assembly. Draw the socket and bulb away from the assembly.
- 5). Remove the burned out turn signal bulb. Grasp the top of the bulb, push down and turn the bulb to the left. Pull the bulb out of the socket, discard it and put on a pair of rubber gloves.
- 6). Insert the new turn signal bulb into the socket. Push down on the bulb and turn it to the right to lock it into the socket. Insert the bulb through the rear of the turn signal assembly. Secure the socket back onto the assembly by rotating it clockwise a quarter turn.
- 7). Mount the turn signal assembly against your Grand Cherokee. Reinstall its two screws with the Phillips head screwdriver to hold it in place. Reinstall the headlight bezel over the headlight and turn signal assembly. Secure the bezel back into place with its screws. Shut the hood of your 1997 Grand Cherokee and test the new left turn signal bulb.
