The Books of the Bible in Chronological Order - Commentary 2009

103 3
Did you know that the books of the Bible are not in Chronological order? Have you ever tried to read a commentary of the Bible written by someone who has spent more years studying than actually living in the real world? Tough to read, isn't it.
I think comments like this are much more interesting and fun as well as educational.
Example 1: Gen 1:1 In the beginning God...
There is a lot going on behind that little three letter word "God.
" It literally means "self-sufficient one.
" Which means, all that is required to exist, exists within Himself.
I require water, food, shelter, etc...
therefore I am not God! Notice that it is nice and brief, but still has good information that many have not heard before.
The books of the Bible are in Chronological order up to the book of Nehemiah.
Example 2: Gen 1:3 God said, "Let there be light.
" But the sun and the moon are not made until the fourth day in verse 14.
So what light is verse 3 talking about? Jesus said, "I am the light of the world.
" Could there be a connection there? What do you think? This comment did not include great educational insight.
Instead it just makes you think about something you may not have thought of before.
The books of the Bible in the New Testament are not in Chronological order either.
One more? OK.
I really like this one.
Example 3: Gen 2:24 "...
the two are united into one.
" The Hebrew word translated as "one" is "echad.
" It means "a composite one.
" One that is made up of more than one.
The same word is used in Deut 6:4 "...
the LORD is one.
" Sounds very Trinitarian to me.
The opposite of echad is adulturate.
It means "two or more things combined that corrupt each other.
" We get our word "adultery" from this word.
I hope you have enjoyed these examples.
Good information.
Information that promotes thinking.
Written in a language that normal people can read and understand.
Don't forget.
You don't read and study the Bible just to find interesting facts.
You do this in order to know your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ more fully and to make yourself available to Him so that He may change you more and more into His image.
There is a Bible that puts all of the books into Chronological order, it is called the One Year Chronological Order Bible.
