    Chemical Cleaning

    • 1). Put protective clothing on, such as eye protection, leather gloves, long sleeved shirts and pants.

    • 2). Read the instructions and warnings on your hydrochloric acid cleaning agent. Always work in a well ventilated area when mixing this solution or working with it.

    • 3). Pour the suggested amount of water into a plastic bucket. Add your cleaning solution to the water. Commonly the mixing proportions are one part hydrochloric acid and 10 to 20 parts water, but you must follow your chosen product’s instructions very carefully.

    • 4). Use a scrub brush and apply the cleaning solution to the stained area of concrete. Allow the mixture to sit for the recommended time, usually 5 to 15 minutes.

    • 5). Rinse the surface thoroughly at least twice with water to remove all traces of cleaning solution.

    Pressure Washing

    • 1). Set up your pressure washer according to the machine’s operating manual. Each pressure washer may vary on the set up and operating procedure. You will need to attach a water supply, usually with a garden hose; and you will need a power source if the pressure washer is not battery or gas operated.

    • 2). Put a narrow spray nozzle on your pressure washer. Turn the pressure washer on and position yourself near the concrete area you want to wash.

    • 3). Start on one edge of your work area, press down on the pressure washer trigger to engage it and spray from one edge to the other, holding the tip of the nozzle approximately one to two feet above the surface. Use fluid, even strokes as you move the pressure washer nozzle across the surface and never hold the nozzle in one place too long as this may damage your concrete surface. Once you have reached the edge, move the nozzle down to start another pass across the concrete back to the other side. The pressure wash lines should touch or overlap so you have an even cleaning.

    • 4). Continue making back and forth passes across the concrete surface until the entire area is cleaned.

    • 5). Release pressure on the pressure washer trigger, examine the surface to see if there is any spots that need extra attention. If needed, spray those areas again.

    • 6). Turn the pressure washer off, disconnect from the power source (if applicable) and disconnect the water supply.
