How to Remove a GE Dryer Drum

    • 1). Unplug the dryer's electrical cord from the electrical outlet before attempting to remove the drum.

    • 2). Pull the dryer door open, and locate the screws under the front lip of the dryer top. Unfasten the screws with a screwdriver.

    • 3). Flip the top lid back so it is resting on the rear hinges, and locate the screws on the inside top of the cabinet at the front.

    • 4). Remove the screws at the top of the cabinet with the screwdriver. Tilt the front panel away from the dryer and locate the door switch plug on the back of the front panel.

    • 5). Remove the door switch plug by hand and set the front panel out of the way. Locate the idler arm and motor at the bottom of the dryer.

    • 6). Move the idler arm forward to relieve the tension on the belt and remove the belt from around the dryer drum.

    • 7). Place one hand on the top front of the drum and your other hand on the lower back of the drum. Lift it up in the back and take it out of the slot in the rear panel.
