How to Take Stickers Off a Laptop

    • 1). Heat the stickers with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive. Run the hair dryer on a low heat setting to avoid melting the laptop's plastic parts.

    • 2). Peel the stickers away from the surface of the laptop using your fingernail. Pull the stickers away slowly to minimize residue. If you are unable to remove a sticker with your fingernail, use a piece of paper; wedge an edge of the paper under the corner of the sticker and move the paper back and forth in a sawing motion to loosen the adhesive.

    • 3). Remove the largest bits of adhesive residue from the laptop by rubbing them with an eraser. When a piece of adhesive clings to the eraser, pull it off and continue until you have removed as much of the adhesive as possible.

    • 4). Dip a cloth in hot water and rub it gently over any residual adhesive to dissolve and remove the glue. If you are unable to remove the last traces of adhesive with water, use a cloth lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover or commercial adhesive remover. Before you use any stripper to remove the adhesive from your laptop, test it first on an unexposed surface to make sure it won’t discolor or strip paint from the laptop.
