How to Remove Dinner Plate Scratches
- 1). Rinse the plate under running water to moisten it.
- 2). Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda or a gentle abrasive powder cleaner on the back of the plate. Look for a powder cleaner formulated with calcium carbonate, sodium carbonate, oxalic acid or sodium bicarbonate.
- 3). Scrub the back of the plate firmly with a sponge to test whether the cleaner affects the finish or color of the plate.
- 4). Rinse the plate again and sprinkle baking soda or cleaner evenly on top of the scratches on the plate.
- 5). Scrub the plate firmly with the sponge until all the scratches disappear from the plate.
- 6). Rinse off the baking soda or cleaner. If using cleaner, wash the plate with detergent to remove any cleaner residue.
