How to Clean With Vinegar, Bleach and Ammonia

    White Vinegar

    • 1). Mix equal amounts of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on mirrors, windows, shower doors, refrigerators, ovens or outdoor grills. Let the mixture remain on the surface for three to four minutes. Wipe windows with lint-free paper towels to clean and shine the glass. Wipe shower doors, refrigerators and ovens with a rag to remove soap scum, grease and grime. Ball up aluminum foil to scrub outdoor grills.

    • 2). Soak a rag or sponge in full-strength white vinegar to clean heavily soiled, mineral-stained or greasy areas. Lay the rag on top of the greasy and grimy areas. Let it sit for five to 10 minutes. Wipe the area with the vinegar-soaked rag or sponge or scrub the surface with a nylon scrubber. Rinse the area with plain water.

    • 3). Pour white vinegar in a bowl. Place items with lime scale or grease buildup in to soak for 20 to 30 minutes. Scrub with a nylon scrubber and rinse the items with plain water.

    • 4). Fill a coffee pot with equal amounts of white vinegar and water. Run the coffee pot through a cycle to remove mineral deposits. Rinse the coffee pot with water.

    • 5). Pour 2 to 3 cups of white vinegar down drains to clean and deodorize the drain.

    Ammonia

    • 1). Mix one part ammonia with four parts water. Spray oven doors, toilet bowls and sinks. Scrub the area with a sponge, rag or nylon scrubber to remove grease and grime buildup.

    • 2). Combine equal amounts of water and ammonia. Apply the mixture to clothing stains. Rub the mixture gently into the stain with a damp cloth. Let the ammonia remain on the clothing for 20 to 30 minutes. Wash the clothing as usual.

    • 3). Pour 1/2 cup of ammonia into 1 gallon of water. Sponge the mixture onto pet accidents on the carpet. Absorb excess liquid with paper towels. Continue to sponge ammonia and water onto the carpet and soak up excess moisture until the pet stain disappears.

    • 4). Mix equal amounts of ammonia and water. Scrub the inside of trash cans to remove dirt and debris. Rinse the trash can well with plain water.

    Bleach

    • 1). Pour 1/2 cup of chlorine bleach in the toilet. Scrub the inside of the toilet with a toilet brush to clean and disinfect it.

    • 2). Mix one part chlorine bleach with four parts water in a bucket. Submerge a rag or sponge into the mixture. Wipe down bathtubs, sinks, refrigerators, dishwashers and countertops to remove grime, soap scum and dirt. Dip a scrub brush into the mixture and scrub grout lines to clean and whiten them.

    • 3). Combine equal amounts of water and chlorine bleach in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture onto areas that have mold and mildew. Let the bleach sit on the surface for 20 to 30 minutes. Scrub the surface with a rag or scrub brush and flush well with water.

    • 4). Soak non-porous toys in a mixture of 1/2 cup chlorine bleach and 1 gallon of water for five to 10 minutes to clean and disinfect them. Remove the toys and rinse them with plain water.

    • 5). Add 3/4 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water. Immerse a mop and wring out the excess liquid. Mop the floors to remove dirt, grease and grime.
