How to Get Poop Stains Out of Carpet
- 1). Remove any loose pieces of poop from the carpet. Wear gloves and pick up the pieces with paper towels. Scrape off dried poop with a dull knife and scoop it into a dustpan.
- 2). Spray the area with a commercial enzyme cleaner. Read the back of the cleaner to ensure that it will be safe for the carpet. Follow the directions, and spray the cleaner over the poop-stained area to allow it to saturate.
- 3). Remove the cleaner with a wet/dry vacuum. The wet/dry vacuum will remove the cleaner and any dog poop that it was able to dislodge from the area. Add more enzyme cleaner if the stain still exists, and use the wet/dry vacuum again.
- 4). Blot the area with paper towels. Keep blotting the area until it appears dry.
- 5). Add a pet odor neutralizer to the area. This will remove any foul odors and keep your pet from using the bathroom in the same location. If you do not have a product readily available, you can sprinkle baking soda over the area and allow it to set overnight. Vacuum up the baking soda in the morning.
