The idea that God's gift of the Holy Spirit lives with all of us gets a visual representation in a bookmark. Each child uses a piece of paper to decorate one. The children write "Holy Spirit" on one side of the paper. On the other side of the paper have the children write "Guide us," "Help us" or "Teach us.". Each child decorates the rest of the bookmark with any art supplies available, including glitter, crayons, markers, ribbons or colored paper.

    A Centerpiece of Gifts

    • A centerpiece keeps the gifts of the Holy Spirit visible during mealtime. Create the base of the centerpiece with a piece of construction paper formed into a circle and held in place with tape or staples. Cut out seven candle shapes. On each candle write the name of one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The seven gifts are: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord. Attach the candles to the base with tape, glue or staples.

    The Dove

The dove frequently signifies the Holy Spirit. For young children a simple craft using their hands caters to their short attention span. Have a child place his hand on a piece of construction paper with his thumb extended and other fingers pushed together. Trace the child's hand or have him trace it if she is old enough. Cut out the image or decorate it as is. Use a marker or crayon to add an eye, beak and wing.

    A Windsock

    • A windsock is a nice craft to make in the spring when the weather permits hanging the craft outside or in a window. Take a piece of construction paper and create a cylinder shape. Tape, glue or staple to keep the shape. Cut out a dove from a different color of construction paper and attach to the cylinder. Attach crepe paper to the bottom of the cylinder. Use string, twine or wire at the top of the cylinder to create a hangar for the sock.
