    • 1). Push in the gas knob on your log set and slowly turn it left to the "Off" position, if your pilot light has gone out on its own. Wait five minutes to allow any residual gas fumes to dissipate before attempting to relight the pilot light.

    • 2). Check the safety valves for your log set to ensure that all are on fully. The safety valve locations vary among the many manufacturers, but they are somewhere on the fuel line before the pilot light.

    • 3). Turn the gas control knob clockwise to the "Pilot" position. Strike a wooden fireplace match and hold it at the tip of the pilot tube.

    • 4). Push in the gas control knob until the pilot lights. Hold the knob in until the pilot is lit for one minute.

    • 5). Rotate the control knob to the "On" position and release the gas control knob.
