How to Polish Lead Statues
- 1). Fill a bucket with hot water.
- 2). Add 2 tbsp. liquid dish soap. Use mild dish soap that does not contain any harsh chemicals.
- 3). Mix until the water is sudsy.
- 4). Dip a scrubbing brush into the solution and scrub it over the entire surface of the lead statue. Work from the bottom of the statue to the top to ensure that the entire statue remains wet. This will prevent it from drying with streaks. Use a plastic-bristled scrubbing brush to prevent scratches.
- 5). Rinse the entire lead statue with clear water.
- 6). Rub the lead statue with a clean microfiber cloth to dry it completely. Microfiber will dry it without shedding fiber like cotton cloth tend to do. Buff in a circular motion to polish the lead.
- 7). Let the statue air dry completely for several hours to ensure that mold or mildew doesn't begin to grow.
