Apart from vegetables and poultry, fish as part of seafood has also its demand when it comes to grilling probably because it is easily cooked, healthy and it offers a pleasant taste.
Fish having it boiled, fried or steamed all taste fresh and soft not to mention grilling it now.
Here are some guidelines to educate you on Direct grilling, grilling hygiene and to exploit the accessories available to make grilling fun and enjoyable.
Direct Grilling To grill fish, we would recommend swordfish or tuna for new beginners as they do not crumble nor break easily as compared to other fishes.
You can place them right on top of the fire but do take note of the fire because if the flame is too huge then it can easily over-cook the fishes hence keep watch of the flame.
Have the fire set ready first before placing the fish onto the grill itself.
Apply some olive oil to prevent it from staining or sticking onto the grill.
This can save the trouble when you want to clean the grill after using it.
The size of the fish should be at least 1 inch thick and wide enough to ensure it does not fall into the grill and get burnt.
To check if the fish has been cooked and ready for consumption, poke a fork into it and observe if there's any staining on the fork itself.
Grilling Hygiene Practising good grilling hygiene will help you to have a clean piece of fish or other foods.
It can also prevent you from having diarrhoea or stomach flu caused by contaminated food or drink.
There are three guidelines for you: Firstly, ensure that the grill has been pre-heated before you have any food down on the grill.
Secondly, after the grill had been pre-heated ensure that the food for instance a fish has been oiled slightly with virgin olive oil to prevent it from staining and sticking onto the grill.
Last but not least, remember to clean the grill with scrub and cleaning agents.
You do not want to eat the residue left behind since the last grill activity.
Make Use of Accessories A fish basket is used to put the fish into a cage like grill and makes it cook evenly on all sides easier.
To savour further, do not hesitate to add some healthy flavouring like lemon grass, seasonings, herbs to enhance the taste.
