How to Make Cord Rosaries
- 1). Hold the cord in your left hand. Leave about 6 inches of the cord hanging.
- 2
Use your right hand to take the cord and wrap it three times around your index finger and the cord. Then pull the entire cord through the three loops and pull it tight. This will create the knot for the first "Hail Mary" knot. - 3). Repeat Step 2 to create a total of ten "Hail Mary" knots.
- 4). Leave a little space after the tenth "Hail Mary" knot. Then wrap the cord around your finger four times and pull it through. This will create a knot slightly larger than the other knots. This will be a "Our Father" knot.
- 5). Repeat Steps 2 through 4 until you have five decades complete.
- 6). Take the string right below the first "Hail Mary" knot and the string just below the last "Hail Mary" knot and wrap both cords around your finger twice. Pull both pieces of cord through and tighten the knot. This will be where the rosary joins.
- 7). Take the long piece of cord that is left and create one "Our Father" knot, followed by three small knots, and then one more large knot.
- 8). Leave some space after the last knot and tie another "Our Father" knot. Leave a very small space and tie two more "Our Father" knots.
- 9). Cut the cord after the second knot, and burn the end of the cord so it doesn't fray.
- 10
Take the piece of cord you cut off or a new piece if the other is too short. Lay the piece of cord flat on the table. Lay the rosary on top of it so that the flat cord is in the space between the "Our Father" knots you made last. - 11
Take both ends of the last piece of cord and tie them in a simple knot over the space. Then make a large "Our Father" knot with each end of the cord. Pull the knots really tight and burn the ends so they can not come undone. This creates the cross bar of the cross.
