Meditate on God's Words by Reading and Studying the Bible

Christians should always meditate on God's words (Psalm 1:2; Psalm 119:15). To meditate on God's words mean to ponder upon God's words in the bible and keep them in mind in no matter what you do (Joshua 1:8; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Philippians 4:8). Every day, we should spend some time to read and study the bible. We should always put God's commandments in priority no matter where we are and what we do (Psalm 19:14; Psalm 119:97; James 1:23-24). If you have any bible questions, you can read the commentaries. There are many free commentaries you can find at the online bible sites. You can also ask your pastor or a fellow Christian to interpret the scripture that you don't understand.

Don't Compromise with the World

It is important that we don't compromise with the world to rebel against God's commandment to fulfill our fleshly lusts (James 1:22; 2 Corinthians 11:3). Nowadays, there are more and more Christians condoning to worldly practices (2 Corinthians 6:14; Galatians 5:16; 2 Timothy 3:5). Many churches want to be modern so they change their church design to become more contemporary. This has caused many church to renovate their church by installing lots of special lightings so that it looks more like disco, use expensive electric guitar so that the gospel music sound more like rock music, take every opportunity to promote and sell stuff to church members, let some church members who are sellers to take advantage of the congregation by selling stuff on the Sabbath, perform secular dances, play secular music at church, and etc.

Don't Practice Meditation Techniques from other Religions

Many Christians also now practice meditation techniques such as yoga, zen, Tai Chi and etc (2 Corinthians 10:5). These meditation techniques cannot bring us near to God. All these meditation techniques are from pagan religions. Doing such meditations can open a doorway for the devil to attack your mind (Ephesians 4:27; 1 Peter 5:8-9). Slowly, you will yourself be drifted away to other religions. We cannot blend in the teachings and practices from other religions into Christianity. Jesus said whoever that loves the world does not have the love of the Father in him (Ephesians 5:1). We are not to conform to the patterns of the world but meditate upon and renew our minds with the word of God daily (Romans 12:1-2; 1 John 2:15; John 15:7-8).

Experience God Through Praying

The bible contains lots of promises from God (2 Corinthians 1:20). Whenever you are discouraged by the problem you face, you can turn your bible to read about God's promises for you. Apart on meditating on God's words, we should always pray regularly (Philippians 4:6-9; Psalm 63:6; Philippians 4:19). You can pray in words or pray in the Spirit (1 Peter 5:6-7). When you pray in the Spirit, you speak in the tongue language, a type of heavenly language which no one can understand what you say and only God can understand you (Acts 2:1-4). The Holy Spirit intercedes for you by praying about all your problems and groans when you pray in the tongue language (Romans 8:26; John 14:26). You must be filled with the Holy Spirit in order to pray in the tongue language. You can ask your pastor to lay hand and pray for you if you want to be spirit filled and speak in the tongue language. You can pray in the Spirit no matter where are or what you are doing. For example, when you are driving, you can pray in the Spirit.

Prayer Builds Up Your Relationship with God

Regular praying can help to build up your prayer life so that you become a stronger Christian (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; James 5:16; Jeremiah 33:3; Ephesians 6:10-20). If you don't pray, you will not be able to grow to become more spiritually mature (2 Peter 2:2-3). A Christian's life cannot be stagnant and not make progress. You must keep on making progress so that you become more and more mature spiritually. When you become a mature Christian, you can evangelize to other non believer and build them up in Jesus Christ. When you are a new Christian, people pray for you. You must learn how to pray for yourself and others (James 5:16; 1 Timothy 2:1; Colossians 1:9-10; 1 Thessalonians 5:25). You cannot keep on depending on your pastor or other Christians to pray you. When you learn how to pray yourself, you will find that you grow into a stronger Christian.
