The Danger of Standing Between Two Waters

Jonathan, David best friend ans son of King Saul, was a man who believe in God.
He was willing to give up on the throne because he knew that God had chosen David and not him.
He made covenant with David before God to save his family.
Because, Johnathan knew that David will be the next king of Israel.
1Samuel 19-21 But, the estrange thing in the story is that Jonathan was killed by The Philistines with his Father Saul.
Why did he die with Saul? Why didn't God saved his life? I was wondering about this for a while.
This bothered me.
Oh, probably, it was an accident.
There are no accidents.
In God, everything has a reason and a purpose.
Nothing happens that God does not allows.
"And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
" Matthew 10:30 There was someone else in the same story Ahimelech, the priest.
He was arrested with all his family by the people of Saul for helping David.
He was supposed to die by the hand of Doeg, but Doeg kill 85 priests from Ahimelech's family.
Only one of them was able to scape.
Guess who? Ahimelech, the one who helped David.
Was it an accident? As we can see, Jonathan did not see the need to choose between David and his father.
Obviously, he chose his father.
This was the right thing to do in human terms.
But in 1 Chronicles 12 we find the people who left Saul and got to go to David because they understood the time.
They knew that the kingdom should passed to David because God gave it to him.
"1 These were the men who came to David at Ziklag, while he was banished from the presence of Saul son of Kish (they were among the warriors who helped him in battle; 2 they were armed with bows and were able to shoot arrows or to sling stones right-handed or left-handed; they were kinsmen of Saul from the tribe of Benjamin):" 18 Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, chief of the Thirty, and he said: "We are yours, O David! We are with you, O son of Jesse! Success, success to you, and success to those who help you, for your God will help you.
" So David received them and made them leaders of his raiding bands.
29 men of Benjamin, Saul's kinsmen-3,000, most of whom had remained loyal to Saul's house until then; 30 men of Ephraim, brave warriors, famous in their own clans-20,800; 31 men of half the tribe of Manasseh, designated by name to come and make David king-18,000; 32 men of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do-200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command; 38 All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks.
They came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel.
All the rest of the Israelites were also of one mind to make David king.
Jonathan went to visit David when he was running from Saul.
There, he made a covenant with David, again.
After that, Jehovah put Saul in David's hands twice.
David refused to kill Saul, even when he knew that such action will put end to all his troubles.
David would not touch the anointed of God.
This was the proof to Jonathan that David was not going to kill Saul.
When we want something badly, it is necessary to surrender it to God to protect it.
We can't survive in The Lord with a divided heart.
Matthew 6:24 24"No one can serve two masters.
Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.
You cannot serve both God and Money.
Jonathan stood between two waters.
He stayed with his father and got the destiny of his father.
He could save his family and perhaps even his throne after David if he would fight in the side of David.
He knew that fighting with David was not against his Father, but it meant to fight in the side of God.
If you are facing a difficult situation where choice is not that clear, pray and ask for direction.
But once, the direction of where is God is clear.
Follow God, even if it does not seem reasonable.
Those who put their life for me will save it.
Those who want to save their lives will loose it.
The danger is not the danger itself.
The danger is to walk without the right protection.
We know that our right path is the of walking with God.
