The Children's Bread
Even in the remotest parts of the world, there is an opportunity to receive bread from heaven, When families find themselves in distress and troubles, the need will drive us to Christ, and when we come to him , we will not be quickly driven away, for he knows our needs and is acquainted with our grief's.
It is the duty of parents to provide for their children and to pray for their souls, especially when the enemy seems to have them in his grasp, this woman's daughter, was grievously vexed with an unclean spirit, she was possessed with a demon which had her in captivity, many methods were tried by her mother to no avail, so the mother comes to Jesus on her last resort, only he alone could heal her daughter.
In this dark and perplexing story, it teaches us that every individual can be loved by Christ, even though society may call them names, and frown in their faces, those who come humbly to Christ in their own unworthiness he will not refuse.
Jesus left that place and went away to the district of Tyre and Sidon. Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon." She put up faith to support her request, pleading for the very crumbs of the Bread, as if she was begging for her life, she shut her ears to discouragement and pleaded for mercy.
But he did not answer her at all. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, "Send her away, for she keeps shouting after us." Jesus answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." There was ninety and nine safely laid in the fold, but one was outside.
Jesus compared the Gentiles to dogs and elevated the Jews to "children"! when it was time for Christ to come, he came from the chosen people, and his assignment meant that he was not to intermingle with the Gentiles, until the appointed time, because it was very possible for the Christ to stray from his divine purpose (Hebrews.7:25,
In reality Jesus was saying to her, "Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." But she answered with wisdom and some desperation can be heard in her inquiring voice, and she said to Him, "Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children's crumbs.
