    Additives

    • According to Clorox, chlorine bleach will kill yeast in the laundry. Unfortunately, bleach is not safe for all fabrics. Vinegar may also be effective in killing yeast in laundry and will not harm or discolor fabrics. Color-safe bleaches that contain hydrogen peroxide do not possess the disinfecting power of regular bleach.

    Temperature

    • High heat will kill yeast in laundry. Wash clothes in very hot water and dry garments on high. Use a hot iron to kill yeast on clothes that are not dryer safe.

    Considerations

    • Change out of wet clothing as soon as possible to prevent a yeast infection. Wear white cotton undergarments if you have an active yeast infection. According to WebMD, cotton undergarments are recommended for the prevention of yeast infections.
