The Location of the Sundew in the Wetlands
- Sundews grow in the wetlands of every continent except Antarctica. A wide belt stretches across North America, Europe and Asia. They also grow on the eastern side of South and Central America, southern Africa, and much of Australia and New Zealand.
- Sundews are usually located in very moist areas, such as swamps, marshes and fens. They prefer regions that receive a lot of sunlight and where the soil is too acidic and low in nutrients for competing plants to grow. Sundews often grow alongside sphagnum moss.
- Although sundews have adapted to a variety of climates, most species grow in warmer locations. A few have adapted to colder regions by going into a dormant state during the winter.
