Do Deer Eat Pachysandra?
- Rutgers University gives pachysandra an "A" when it comes to deer resistance. This means that they are usually not attracted to this plant and rarely eat it. If deer do decided to nibble on them, it is usually when buds appear in the spring.
- Pachysandra is sometimes called Allegheny Spurge. It is a type of ground cover with dark green clusters of three to five leaves each. This foliage is very broad and has a serrated or saw-toothed edge on the top of it. It may have tiny white flowers on it from time to time.
- Pachysandra can be planted in flower gardens or near shrubs to keep deer away. This variety could also be placed in garden containers and put near a vegetable garden or flower bed in order to keep these mammals at bay. You can also grow this species underneath small trees, as it can tolerate full or partial shade.
