How to Use an Old VCR As a Tuner for a New Monitor
- 1). Turn off the monitor by pressing the "Power" button on the front of the device. Unplug the monitor's power cord from the electrical outlet.
- 2). Turn the monitor around so the back of the device is facing you.
- 3). Place the old VCR next to the monitor.
- 4). Plug one end of a yellow composite cable (RCA) into the "Video Out" port on the back of the VCR.
- 5). Plug the other end of the yellow composite cable into the "Video" or "Video In" port on the back of the monitor.
- 6). Plug one end of a white composite cable into the "Audio Out - Left" port on the back of the VCR.
- 7). Plug the other end of the white composite cable into the "Audio In - Left" on the back of the monitor.
- 8). Plug one end of a red composite cable into the "Audio Out - Right" port on the back of the VCR.
- 9). Plug the other end of the red composite cable into the "Audio In - Right" on the back of the monitor.

Plug the coaxial cable from an antenna or the coaxial cable from the cable outlet on the wall into the "Cable In" or "Antenna In" port on the back of the VCR. - 11
Plug the monitor's power cord into a electrical outlet. Turn on the monitor. - 12
Access the monitor's menu. Select "Line" or "Video" to activate the audio/video ports on the back of the monitor. - 13
Plug the VCR's power cord into a electrical outlet. Turn on the VCR. - 14
Use the older VCR's remote control or the channel control on the front of the VCR to change the channels and test the connection. You should see television programing on the monitor. If you don't see any channels, check the settings and connections on the monitor and VCR. Alternatively, test the connection by placing a videotape in the VCR and pressing the "Play" button on the VCR's remote control or on the front of the VCR's display.
