Who Wants Some Nachos? - How It All Began
Nacho is a famous food distinct to the Mexico flag where it originally came from.
It is based on corn with Tex-Mex fare which could either be done quickly to be eaten as a snack or cooked with added ingredients to become a complete meal.
To put it plain and simple, nacho is a small bit of tortilla chip or totopo with melted cheese on top.
Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya originally made it around 1943.
The first nachos are made up of fried corn tortillas with preserved jalapeño peppers and melted cheese on top of it.
Nachos started off at a restaurant that belonged to Rodolfo De Los Santos called Victory Club in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, just across the border from Eagle Pass, Texas.
There was a time in 1943 wherein spouses of at least 10 US soldiers based at Fort Duncan in neighbouring Eagle Pass were shopping in Piedras Negras and got to Victory Club when it was already shut for the day.
The waiter named Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya made-up a new snack for the ladies with what was left in the kitchen: cheese and tortillas.
He made the tortillas triangular in shape, put in cheddar cheese, heated them up fast, and then put in cut jalapeño peppers.
He handed out the snack and called it 'Nacho's especiales' or Nacho's special dish.
Anaya carried on to be employed at another restaurant in Piedras Negras called Moderno Restaurant, which continues to use the original Nachos.
He later on started with his own 'Nacho's Restaurant' in Piedras Negras.
