How to Match Sizes for Snowboard Bindings

    • 1). Check the binding manufacturer's sizing chart. Binding manufacturers typically offer bindings in several sizes like small, medium and large. To translate this into a range of shoe sizes, you'll need to refer to the binding manufacturer's sizing chart. Online retailers often have this linked right underneath the sizing drop-down menu.

    • 2). Bring your boots. When you're shopping for bindings in person, the best way to ensure they fit is by bringing your boots to the store with you.

    • 3). Insert the boots into the bindings, close the straps and ensure there is a snug -- but not uncomfortable -- fit. If not, check the strap hardware to see if you can make the straps tighter around the boots. If you have to ratchet the binding all the way, try a binding size down. If you're barely able to tighten the bindings at all, try a size up.

    • 4). Size the foot bed. The foot bed of the binding should be about equal to the length of the sole of your foot. You can typically adjust the length of the foot bed.

    • 5). Double check how the binding fits around your boot. The boot should be snug inside the binding with the binding straps centered on the top of the foot and ankle and the ratchets tightened about halfway down the ladder strap. The boot should pull out easily when you loosen the straps and shouldn't be jammed in the binding.
