Bloodstained Memoirs features a series of interviews with some of the biggest names in professional wrestling while they were not under contract to the WWE. These interviews feature the wrestlers candidly discuss their careers and some of the most important things in their lives.

Review and Recommendation

Format of the DVD: Al Snow is the host of this DVD. The main feature runs for almost two hours and features eight interviews conducted by Dean Ayass.

The eight wrestlers interviewed are Ultimo Dragon, Roddy Piper, Christian Cage, Jimmy Snuka, Nora Greenwald (Molly Holly), Chris Jericho, Keiji Mutoh (The Great Muta), and Rob Van Dam. I have to note that since the Great Muta does not speak English, his interview features subtitles. In addition to those interviews, footage from a Mick Foley book signing is also featured.

The DVD also comes with a few extras. The highlights of the extras are an interview with Christy Hemme and a few more minutes of the Roddy Piper interview.

The Interviews: The interviews are well done and interesting. The wrestlers featured represent a good mixture of wrestlers from different eras and also represent wrestling outside of the United States. In addition to just discussing their careers, the wrestlers speak candidly abut some of the most important things in their lives and how wrestling has impacted those parts of their lives. While the interviews are entertaining, there are a few problems with the production.

The first is that the interviews are old. Even though this is a brand new DVD, I felt like I was reviewing a product that was several years old. As an example, Chris Jericho was on his first retirement when this was filmed and Mick Foley was promoting his third autobiography. Since this was filmed, Chris returned to the ring for a few years and retired once again while Mick released his fourth autobiography a year ago.

However, the biggest problem with this DVD is that everything seems random on it. It is just a bunch of random interviews put together on a DVD. There is no storyline or arc holding this project together. All the chapters could easily be rearranged and you would never notice.

Overall Recommendation: Because this DVD is from England, the cheapest I have seen it for is $32. I can't recommend spending that much money for this. Luckily, there is another way to view this film. You can view it online at www.bloodstainedmemoirs.com for about $5. However, you don't get the special features online. I would recommend this DVD for those that watch shoot interview. This is like a great sampler shoot video in that you get the best pieces of interviews from some of the biggest names in the sport.
