How to Make a Bacon Spinach Salad With Hot Dressing
- 1). Sear bacon in a frying pan over medium heat until crisp and brown. Remove the bacon from the skillet. Drain the oil, leaving 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in the pan.
- 2). Add sugar, vinegar and olive oil to the bacon drippings. Heat over medium-high for 2 minutes. This is our dressing mixture. Return the bacon pieces to the skillet with the dressing mixture and stir to combine.
- 3). Toss the spinach and sliced red onion in a large bowl. Set aside.
- 4). Pour the bacon dressing mixture over the spinach and onion. Toss the salad to coat and wilt the leaves slightly.
- 5). Divide the spinach salad between two plates. Top with crumbled feta cheese. Serve immediately. You can also add sliced apple wedges and croutons to the salad.
