How to Enable Bluetooth on a Gateway
- 1). Insert the USB Bluetooth adapter into an empty USB port. Wait for Windows to locate and install the drivers. A dialog box will let you know when installation is complete. If your computer already has Bluetooth, it is on by default.
- 2). Turn the device on and make it discoverable. In the case of a simple Bluetooth device, such as a mouse or keyboard, make sure that there is sufficient battery power to operate the device and then press the button on the bottom to put it into pairing mode. For a complex device, such as a smartphone, you will need to enter your device's Bluetooth settings and set it to "Discoverable." These settings are usually found under Options, Settings or Advanced Settings menus on most phones.
- 3). Open the Control Panel. From your Windows Start menu, select "Control Panel." Under the heading "Hardware and Sound," click "Add a Device." Windows will search out your active Bluetooth devices and list them in the dialog window.
- 4). Choose your device and click "Next." Windows will complete the connection to your device.
