How to Operate a Ceiling Fan During the Winter
- 1). Pull the string on the fan until the blades stop moving. It may be necessary to pull the string several times, depending on what speed the fan is on.
- 2). Turn off the light switch providing electricity to the fan. Place a stepladder directly under the fan, if you cannot easily reach the fan's motor. Climb the stepladder and find the switch directly above the blades, on the stem of the fan.
- 3). Push the switch in a direction that will make the blades turn clockwise. Step down from the ladder.
- 4). Turn on the light switch. Pull on the fan's speed string to make the blades move. The blades should be spinning clockwise, or to the right. Make sure the fan is running on a low speed to fully circulate the warm air around the room.
