How to Update a Kitchen Pantry List Online

    • 1). Decide what items you need to keep in your pantry. If you've just moved into your home and your pantry is empty, visit your local grocery store and look around to determine the items you'd like to stock your pantry with. If your pantry is already stocked, create a list of the staple items you simply cannot run out of.

    • 2). Create an online pantry list. Some sites offer ready-made shopping lists, although these lists tend to be general in nature and may include items you may not use. Other websites allow users to create free online lists for any purpose from blank templates. A blank template allows you to create a shopping list tailored to your personal tastes and lifestyle. Sites include Tadalist.com, Listigator.com and Remember-the-Milk.com. Access the site that you prefer, sign up and create your pantry list.

    • 3). Print off several copies of the master pantry list you created online and post them just inside your pantry door. Whenever you are low or run out of something, put a check by the item indicating that it needs to be replenished. To keep track of the things you need, make a mental note of how many items you're comfortable with; perhaps you don't like to have less than two cans of tuna or one can of vegetable soup. If you plan your meals in advance, compare the items needed in the recipes with what you have in your pantry. If you need something you don't have, write it in on the master list. You can also use a label maker to mark a specific spot for everything in your pantry. That way, if you're out of an item, you'll notice an empty spot above a label and know to add that item to your list.

    • 4). Update your online list weekly with the information from your hanging pantry list. To expedite shopping visits, create a secondary list that includes only the items you are running low on or out of.

    • 5). Take a copy of your master list with you to the grocery store once per month. Peruse the aisles for new items you might like to eat or cook with. If you purchase an item that isn't on your master list, write it on the list. When you get home (or somewhere with Internet access), access your online master list and add to it the new items you have decided to start keeping in your pantry.
