How to Make a Necklace With Glaze
- 1). Roll out 6 oz. of polymer clay into a log that measures 1/2 inch thick and 4 inches long. Use any color of polymer clay.
- 2). Slice the log into eight pieces using a clay knife, each measuring 1/2 inch thick, 1/2 inch long.
- 3). Roll each piece of clay between your palms to create rounded forms, such as spheres or ovals.
- 4). Push a toothpick into and out of each rounded clay form. This will create a hole in each form, turning them into beads.
- 5). Place the eight beads onto a cookie sheet. Bake the beads in a 150-degree F. oven for 10 minutes. Let the beads cool completely for 30 minutes.
- 6). Paint opalescent acrylic glaze over the outside of each bead, then allow the glaze to dry for 20 minutes. Opalescent acrylic glaze will allow the color of the clay to show through, but will add a shiny, pearly finish to the beads.
- 7). Paint on a second layer of acrylic opalescent glaze and allow the glaze to dry for another 20 minutes.
- 8). Cut a piece of cotton cording with scissors to measure 18 inches long. String the beads onto the cording, then tie the ends of the cording together.
