How to Stop Hanger Marks

    • 1). Fold heavier garments to prevent hanger marks, and then store in a drawer. A hanger may not provide enough support for garments such as large sweaters, jeans and other heavy materials. The weight of these garments may cause hangers to bend and leave marks on clothes.

    • 2). Use a clamp hanger for pants and skirts. Avoid hanger creases and marks on bottoms by using a hanger with two clamps to secure the clothes.

    • 3). Experiment with a wood hanger. Wire hangers provide little support and can leave hanger marks, and plastic hangers are better suited for lightweight clothes. If you need to hang a heavy garment such as a business suit, use a strong hanger such as a wood hanger.

    • 4). Remove belts and items from pockets. The extra weight can cause garments to stretch while hanging, and this can cause hanger marks.
