How to Remove a Stucco Finish from Drywall

    • 1). Remove all furniture from the space you're working in. Cover the floor with plastic sheeting.

    • 2). Fill a spray bottle with warm water. Saturate small areas of the stucco with the warm water.

    • 3). Scrape the stucco once saturated, using a drywall knife. Hold the knife at a slight angle to make removing the stucco easier.

    • 4). Keep the drywall knife flat against the drywall as you scrape to make sure you don't knick the surface.

    • 5). Add more water as necessary. Note that you might need lots of water to soften the stucco enough to scrape it away.
