How to Remove a Stucco Finish from Drywall
- 1). Remove all furniture from the space you're working in. Cover the floor with plastic sheeting.
- 2). Fill a spray bottle with warm water. Saturate small areas of the stucco with the warm water.
- 3). Scrape the stucco once saturated, using a drywall knife. Hold the knife at a slight angle to make removing the stucco easier.
- 4). Keep the drywall knife flat against the drywall as you scrape to make sure you don't knick the surface.
- 5). Add more water as necessary. Note that you might need lots of water to soften the stucco enough to scrape it away.
