How to Select your Wedding Cake

Congratulations! You’ve found the person you love and want to marry. You’ve selected a fine venue and a delicious dinner menu. The clothes you’ve chosen will make you look the very best. And the flowers you’ve selected will make your day fragrant and bright. Now it is time for you to choose your wedding cake.

Since this is going to be a very beautiful day, how about selecting a cake that fits the occasion just as well? Most people love wedding cakes that are as wonderful as the feeling of getting married. They go in for cakes that are elaborately decorated and have tiny bouquets of flowers. They also like things like edible hearts and pretty-colored flowers on their cake. A lot of people opt for wedding cakes that are white. White denotes purity and new beginnings and is quite a popular choice. Confectioners usually suggest topping white cakes with delicate colored flowers. These flowers look deliciously beautiful against the white background. You can also go for colors that will match the theme colors of your wedding.

Now think of the frosting. Would you want one that’s very sweet or one made of chocolate or one that tastes like whipped cream? It’s best to ask for a sample of a flavor before you make your choice. Now think of the shape you’d like your cake to be. Round or square? Rectangular or a heart-shaped one? Most people like to have tiered-cakes for their weddings. Round and rectangular shapes work best for these cakes. Now think of how many tiers you would like to have? You can have a 2or 3-tiered or even a 5 or extravagant 10-tiered cake for your wedding.

A wedding symbol on the cake’s top is a popular thing to do. Like a newly-married couple made of marzipan or a pair of entwined rings. Now think of your guests. Are some of them who are likely to be vegetarian? If yes, maybe you could opt for an egg less version. Now think of how many guests you’re likely to have at the wedding. Make sure that the cake suffices for them all. You wouldn’t want anyone to go home without having a slice of your delicious wedding cake.

Make sure you order your cake well in advance. A wedding cake requires elaborate preparation and not too many people would agree to bake one with just a few days notice. Last but not the least, check if the cake shop you are ordering from will deliver the cake at your wedding venue. If not, ask a reliable friend to pick it up for you. You obviously can’t go running to the cake shop on your wedding day.
