Cross Hatch Stitch Directions
- 1). Crochet the starting chain. The starting chain for a hatch stitch project must have a stitch count that is a multiple of seven chain stitches, plus four additional chain stitches. Crochet the starter chain with some give but not loosely.
- 2). Crochet and add three chains to the starting chain, also contained but loose enough to work with.
- 3). Begin the hatch stitch. Count down three chains from the looped hook and stitch two double crochet stitches into that chain.
- 4). Count four chains down from the chain with the two added double chain stitches and add a single crochet stitch to the fourth chain.
- 5). Crochet three chain stitches from the single crochet stitch.
- 6). Add a double crochet stitch to the three chain stitches on the starter chain directly below the chain with the single, added crochet stitch crocheted in Step 4.
- 7). Repeat Steps 4 through 6 until there are only four chain stitches left free at the bottom of the starter chain.
- 8). Add a single crochet stitch to the bottom chain stitch of the base chain.
- 9). Crochet three chain stitches from the single crochet stitch added in Step 8.

Flip the crochet so the right side of the cross hatch stitched column is now on the left. - 11
Add two double crochet stitches to the single crochet stitch completed in Step 8. - 12
Add a single crochet to the first loop made of the three chain stitches on the row. - 13

Add two double crochet stitches to the triple chain loop completed in Step 13. - 15
Add a double crochet stitch to the next single crochet stitch on the cross hatch stitch row. - 16
Repeat Steps 12 through 15 until the last three-chain loop. - 17
Add a single crochet stitch into the last chain loop, crochet three chain stitches. Flip and repeat as needed to create your project.
