Anyone has ever asked or wondered how spiritual are animals when compared to man?  Obviously none of the animals have ever built any temple or church or mosque or synagogue…. nor have any religious leaders or gurus or masters to follow.  Animals are not known to pray to gods, do offerings in the worship place nor have any epics or religious scriptures or texts to read & reflect.  No animal is known to have any gods or belief in god.  Why should then we raise a doubt of whether animals are spiritual or not?

The truth man is yet to know or understand is that to be spiritual, one need no religion, scriptures, religions leaders or god or worship place. 

To be spiritual, all one need is the inner realization of the truth and reality, the sense of offering unconditional love and care with absolute commitment,  knowing the eternal truth of ‘all mine are not mine',  having total detachment despite being attached to many things etc.

Another simple way one can define the word ‘spiritual' is not being materialist.  Do animals or man fit perfectly into the above definition? 

Look at human life? Full of anarchy, disharmony, dishonesty, selfishness, ego and treachery etc. are all pervasive and have become the law of life.   Humans always fear the known as well as the unknown.  To overcome his fear, he has created god, goes to god and does many offerings.   After committing sins constantly and consciously, confess to god and instead of pleading for forgiveness, he attempts to please the god through offerings and prayers.  Read versus of the spiritual books but never follow them.   Is man spiritual?

What is the core value of man?  Law of contractarianism and the principle of utilitarianism are only guiding man to his success and that is why the modern man referred his earliest ancestors as ‘hunter gatherer'.  

Animals do hunt but only for their livelihood, but man for his pleasure.  In the name of sports, animals are tortured and killed mercilessly.  Out of fear, for survival and for pleasure, man does all nonsense to the nature.  Can we ever call such man spiritual? 

When animals offer parental care, they are totally committed to the cause.  They never attach any expectation or reward.  They feel it is their duty and they do it with pleasure.  Even when the young ones were killed or die, they may feel sad but they move on with life.  No revenge or vengeance they carry with them.  Who is really spiritual? 

People who attach so much of values to materialist things should be called spiritual or those who attach least importance to the materialistic things but still show total commitment, compassion and care should be called spiritual? 

Oh! Man learns to live like animals at least for the sake of being spiritual and to express your gratitude to the nature.
